Abnormal returns from insider trading - does insider trading generate abnormal returns for the Swedish stock exchange and large cap Stockholm?

This paper studies insider trading and abnormal returns on the Large Cap list of the Swedish stock exchange using a sample of 119 firms and 10528 individual transactions between the period 2016-2022. The study is built on the theoretical framework of the efficient market hypothesis and information asymmetry. The research questions are answered using an event study combined with a regression model for hypothesis testing. The results imply that insider trading generates abnormal returns. Furthermore, the study finds a difference in the extent of abnormal returns when comparing buy- and sell transactions. However, similar results are not found when comparing insiders of different seniority. When considering individual days, the results indicate that abnormal returns occur the day before, one- and two days after the day of which news of insider transactions are published.
Åtstramningspolitikens dilemma En jämförande studie om de interna devalveringarna i Baltikum under eurokrisen

This bachelor thesis examines the internal devaluations in the Baltic States during the euro crisis. The study emphasizes the differences between economists within various opinions about internal devaluations as a tool to prevent economic crisis. Due to the cooperation within EMU, the possibility to devalue the currency has disappeared. To increase the degree of competitiveness in the crisis countries a disciplined austerity policy has become the solution. Developed theories about which factors it is that makes an internal devaluation more or less successful, is limited in earlier investigations. The aim of this study is to show which of the Baltic States that was most successful with their austerity policy and to identify the explanatory variable that has led to the different outcome in the three countries. This bachelor thesis show that massive wage cuts will not necessarily result in a successful internal devaluation. The conclusion is that politicians should focus more on external factors such as export conditions for the crisis countries, before they consider austerity measures.

Between routine and moral obligation: Exploring family consumption, emotions and sustainable lifestyles

Consumption and production are crucial areas for reducing societies’ impact on the climate and environment and this is also one of the United Nations’ global goals for sustainable development. Despite that the risks of climate change and environmental degradation is well-known, lifestyle changes where it is needed have not reached sufficient scales. This study focuses on the emotional aspects of sustainable choices to highlight the ambiguousness of consumption. The purpose is to explore possibilities and barriers for sustainable consumption by investigating the family as one unit of consumption, as well as families’ emotional orientation and reasoning about consumption and sustainability as a way of living. It does so by conducting interviews with six middle-class families in Gothenburg, Sweden, that to some extend try to make sustainable choices in everyday consumption. The results indicate that changing consumption patterns are intertwined with changing emotional attachments to consumption practices, re-negotiating relationships connected to these practices, and developing an emotional obligation to sustainability or environmentalism. Emotions also inform and express barriers to sustainable living, in that even the interested have to balance sustainable consumption with conventional consumption to manage everyday family life.

James Joyces Ulysses (1922) är en modern klassiker som kommit att prägla 1900-talets litterära medvetande. Den dag som handlingen utspelas, den 16 juni 1904, har till och med fått en egen benämning, ”Bloomsday”, efter romanens ryktbare antihjälte Leopold Bloom. Den firas numer årligen. Men vad kan Ulysses säga oss i dag? Med anledning av den svenska nyöversättningen 2012 anordnades en heldag vid Humanistiska fakulteten, göteborgs universitet, där forskare och föreläsare från en rad olika håll diskuterade romanen i hela dess vidd: språk, översättning, berättarteknik, religion, historia, exil, (post)kolonialism, genus, sexualitet – och mat. Att »gå ut i fält« har länge fått beskriva en mängd metodiska praktiker inom flera olika vetenskapsområden. Ofta förknippas fältstudier med långväga resor till exotiska platser. Men redan botanikern Linné betonade vikten av att undersöka och systematisera även det näraliggande. Hans litterärt gestaltade exkursioner på 1700talet har också haft en stor inverkan på hur kulturhistorisk forskning bedrivits och presenterats. Det är fortfarande ganska ovanligt att forskare inom humaniora lämnar skrivbordets avgränsade landskap för mer handfasta studier på fältet. Denna antologi undersöker vad det innebär att kombinera traditionella humanistiska metoder och olika former av fältarbete. Förändras vår syn på forskningen och forskningsobjektet om vi bedriver fältstudier? Blir annorlunda kunskap möjlig och påverkar det i sin tur synen på humaniora som ett eget fält?

Knowledge is today viewed as one of the organisations key resources. This especially applies for knowledge organisations like AstraZeneca, in which knowledge must be handled in an efficient way. Different tools for managing knowledge have been developed over the years, but these seem to be missing the interactivity that the IT-solution wiki has. In this study we introduce the concept of wiki to a knowledge organisation and investigate important aspects that should be discussed when implementing a wiki. We introduced the individual users to the wiki concept during an initial interview and thereafter let them test the actual wiki pilot. After testing the wiki pilot we interviewed the users again to evaluate the usage and to verify key aspects when introducing the wiki concept to a knowledge organisation.

Lågrangmatriskomplettering: En jämförelse av två algoritmer

Lågrangmatriskomplettering innefattar algoritmer som fyller ut saknade värden i en matris under antagandet att den kompletta matrisen är av låg rang. Rapporten har undersökt två olika algoritmer för långrangmatriskomplettering, singular value thresholding (SVT) och nor malized iterative hard thresholding (NIHT), på slumpmässigt genererad data och ett urval av databasen Netflix prize data. Rapportens syfte är att bestämma vilken av dessa två algoritmer som lämpar sig bättre för komplettering av Netflix-datan och slumpmässigt genererad data. För att mäta detta undersöktes hur nära algoritmerna konvergerar till de kompletta matriser na i termer av bland annat RMSE samt hur lång tid det tar för de olika algoritmerna att köra givet olika parameterval. Eftersom både NIHT och SVT använder sig av singulärvärdesdekom position som steg i algoritmen undersöktes även hur olika numeriska metoder för att beräkna dessa påverkar precisionen och tiden det tar att köra algoritmerna. Rapporten visade att SVT var snabbare och gav högre precision än NIHT när det kommer till att komplettera Netflix-databasen. Däremot visar NIHT god precision att komplettera slumpmässigt genererad data och kan även göra det snabbare än SVT om en tillräckligt god uppskattning av rangen anges i förväg. Testerna visade även att NIHT kan ge bättre resultat om vissa parametrar i algoritmen justeras, vilket kan vara av intresse för vidare forskning. Need for Speed- Exploring Swedish High-Tech Subsidiaries’ Innovation Process in China

China has experienced an economic growth for many years, the Chinese market is dissimilar the Western market and therefore need to be approached in a different way. Major problems for Swedish subsidiaries are to understand the differences in the innovation process among different countries. Understanding the differences, firms can increase the success in their innovation process. Many Swedish companies have established subsidiaries in China and many of them started with just production, but have now established R&D activities. This research has investigated how senior managers in Swedish subsidiaries in the high-tech industry perceive the differences in the innovation process between Sweden and China. The purpose of this qualitative study of nine high-tech Swedish subsidiaries has been to explore the innovation process in a Chinese context, by using a grounded theory method. Throughout the study we discovered six characteristics that make the innovation process different in China. The innovation process is usually referred to as the process from idea generation to commercialization. In general, Swedish subsidiaries work with an iterative stage-gate model for their innovation processes, while their Chinese competitors focus more on commercialization of products and have an innovation process that is more linear. In China Swedish subsidiaries focus more on development than research. The Chinese market is changing fast and the overall pace in the innovation process is faster. At Swedish subsidiaries there are mainly Chinese employees and this have implications for the activities. There are less discussions and feedback among the employees, which is also a factor why the process in China goes faster and it is also common for Swedish subsidiaries to deal with a high employee turnover. The research also discovered due to the higher pace there are more trial and error and Chinese employees are more willing to take risk when they work in group.
Queera Barnbiblar - En narratologisk & queerteoretisk analys av transformationen av berättelsen om David och Jonatan

As humans we transfer norms and values, which we are aware or unaware of, to the children near to us. These children embrace them, and the adult´s norms and values become the child's own ones. When a Bible story is going to be transformed into a children’s bible text it goes through shortening and simplification of the story to fit children´s bible edition. The adjustment will be unconscious and conscious choices that change the meaning of the text and the possibility of contextual interpretation. In my essay I have used the narrative and queer theoretical method to examine what happens to the queer leakage and the queer possibilities of interpretation in the transformation between Bibel 2000 and children´s Bibles by the story of David and Jonathan in 1 Samuel chapters 18- 20. The narrative analysis has been the basis for the queer theoretical analysis. This method will focus on the story and not the surrounding events or contexts. Based on the method I have shown that the queer leakage that was detected in the Bibel 2000 almost completely ceased to exist in the two children´s Bible versions that I have chosen to use, namely, De yngstas bibel and Bibel för barn. Basically, the queer leakage in Bibel 2000 indicates that David and Jonathan would have been more than friends. But in the two children's Bibles editions it states clearly, by direct statements, that David and Jonathan are just "best friends". The consequence is that the possibility for LGBTQ people to identify with these two characters disappear and the child who reads the story can not personally make the choice of witch relationship David and Jonathan actually had.

UPPLEVELSER AV ARBETSTRYGGHET - Med fokus på klasspositionens påverkan på subjektiv anställnings- & sysselsättningstrygghet

Syfte och frågeställningar: Studiens huvudsakliga syfte är att analysera klasspositionens påverkan på subjektiv anställnings- och sysselsättningstrygghet. Som en bakgrund framhävs arbetsmarknadsflexibilitet som en konsekvens av otrygghet. Klasspositionens effekt kontrolleras mot samvarierande faktorer för att ge en tydligare bild över hur tryggheten påverkas. Studien närmar sig även flexicuritymodellen genom att pröva hur vissa trygghetsformer påverkar andra. Metod och material: Frågeställningarna besvaras genom kvantitativ metod och huvudanalysen utförs med en logistisk regressionsanalys. Materialet baseras på sekundärdata från ISSP 2015 - Åsikter om jobben och arbetslivet. Studien utgår från den svenska arbetsmarknaden och baseras således också enbart på data som är insamlad i Sverige. Huvudresultat: Studiens resultat visar att materiella resurser verkar ha betydelse för den subjektiva anställningstrygghet. Men snarare än klass i sin helhet förklaras låg subjektiv anställningstrygghet framförallt genom en låg månadsinkomst. Dels genom att uppleva anställningen som otrygg och dels genom en oro att förlora jobbet. Det argumenteras däremot för att klass och inkomst har en nära relation. Andra förklarande faktorer för låg subjektiv anställningstrygghet är anställda inom privat sektor och förvärvsarbetande män. Subjektiv sysselsättningstrygghet förklaras främst genom ålder. Enligt studiens resultat kan också sägas att personer som upplever att anställningen är otrygg, samt de som upplever att det skulle vara svårt att hitta ett nytt jobb som är lika bra eller bättre än nuvarande, också riskerar att uppleva oro över att förlora jobbet. Det kopplas till slutsatser i den tidigare forskningen om att en fortsatt liberalisering av anställningsskyddet utan stärkta trygghetssystem är riskabelt för anställdas oro och hälsa.
Vardagslivets finansialisering

I internationell samhällsvetenskaplig forskning används begreppet finansialisering för att förklara och beskriva den ökade betydelse som den finansiella ekonomin har i vår tid. I den här rapporten riktar vi sökarljuset mot hur vardagslivet omvandlats och hur finansiella logikers växande inflytande förändrar människors praktiker, relationer och identiteter (Martin 2002; Langley 2008). Rapporten anknyter därmed till en framväxande forskningsriktning som intresserar sig för, vad Haiven (2014) kallar, finansialiseringens kulturer. Med vardagslivets finansialisering åsyftar vi därmed hur människors vardagliga praktiker och meningssammanhang blir allt tätare sammanvävd med den finansiella ekonomins logiker, instrument och institutioner. Rapporten har karaktären av en antologi, i vilket ett antal forskare från olika samhällsvetenskapliga discipliner beskriver hur vardagslivet finansialiserats. Rapporten börjar med ett par studier av vad finansialiseringen kan betyda för enskilda människor och grupper i deras direkta vardag. Därefter rör vi oss ut mot de mer övergripande aspekterna och konsekvenserna av vardagslivets finansialisering, med frågor som hur denna utveckling stimulerats och hanterats av statliga aktörer och privata aktörer, samt vilka konsekvenser och innebörder finansialiseringen har haft för arbetslivet, välfärdsstaten och hur finansmarknaderna reglerats.

WE SHALL OVERCOME… Historien om EKHO – Ekumeniska gruppen för kristna HBTQ-personer

EKHO - The Ecumenical Association for Christian LGBTQ people has existed in Sweden since the 1970's second half. The movement had its ups and downs throughout the years. In this essay, I will examine what happened when the movement was formed and how the first period developed. By examining EKHO Stockholm´s magazine EKHO-bladet my task is to describe the story from when the first EKHO association was formed until the EKHO organizations of Sweden joined together and formed the National Association, Riks EKHO. My second issue is to look into which role EKHO has played for the development in LGBTQ-issues for the Church of Sweden by analyzing documents from within the church concerning these matters. We clearly see how EKHO throughout history have helped the Church of Sweden to move forward in talks and discussions on Christian LGBTQ-people´s situation. The first EKHO Association in Sweden was formed in 1978, when EKHO Stockholm was founded. Over the last decades five local organizations of EKHO, including Stockholm, was founded in Sweden. 1989, the unions merged to form the National Association Riks EKHO. During its history, unions have operated with different characteristics such as social activities but also information mission outward. EKHO suffered greatly in the 80's when HIV/AIDS hit Sweden. Ever since the association was formed it has affected the Church of Sweden in the direction of becoming more open on issues related to homosexuality and Gay Christians. EKHO representatives have been involved in almost all investigations that the Church of Sweden has made in the area since the 1980's and until the Church of Sweden in 2009 decided that marriage between two people of the same-sex could marry in the church. EKHO added an inside perspective that the heterosexual Christians was not able to give, which has been incredibly valuable for the development in the Church of Sweden.
