Flexibla inkomster och fasta utgifter : Om ekonomisk stress bland korttidsanställda
(Arbetslivsinstitutet, 2000) Aronsson, Gunnar; Dallner, Margareta; Lindh, Tomas
A flexible income and fixed expenses : Economic stress among on call-employees The aim of the study was to investigate the economic situation of temporary employees. The study group consisted of 778 on call employees. The response rate was 56 percent. Twenty percent had experience from being treated in different economic affairs. Over 50 percent of them answered that the form of employment was an impediment to get a loan and above 40 percent that it was an impediment to get a lease. The study group is strongly polarized as regards to economical matters. There is a clear connection between poverty and health. Those who often worried about economy and were poor had lower psychological well-being (GHQ-12), more complaints from stomach, back and neck, more headache, and were more tired and listless. Key words: Economic stress, temporary employees, health, GHQ, gender

    Långtidsfriskas arbetsvillkor : En populationsstudie
(Arbetslivsinstitutet, 2004) Aronsson, Gunnar; Lindh, Tomas
Work conditions among workers with good long term health : A population study The aim of this study was to investigate, which work- and private life related factors, that are associated with long-term good health. A further question concerns if there are different factors that explain health and illness. Long-term health was operationalized as low sickness absenteeism and low sickness presenteeism during a 2-year period. With this definition 28 percent were classified as having good long-term health. The study is based on a representative sample with more than 2000 individuals, who responded to a questionnaire two times with a one-year interval. Univariate and multivariate analysis with 22 independent variables show that there are predicting factors for long term good health in working life (support, time pressure, control, resources for doing a good job, satisfied with quality) as well as in private life (economic margin, work load, relations). It seems that the health advantage of sufficient resources and experience of good quality leveled out on a lower level among men than among women. The same pattern appear for support from chief. Variables with health effects were often asymmetric, i.e they were related to health as well as to ill health. A recommendation is that health psychological variables should be included in further research, as a completion to the dominance of variables developed within a research paradigm focused on illness and disease. Key word: sickness absenteeism, sickness presenteeism, long term health, illness, work organization, work environment
