Att finna sig själv i det främmande – När ungas digitala identitetsskapande möter främmandegörande läsning
(2024) Cronqvist, Martin; Nielsen Edstam, Moa
This research overview focuses on the relation between defamiliarizing literature and identity development in addition to the dynamics of identity development in an online context. The study has been conducted through research analysis of relevant studies and theories in the respective fields. Throughout the research it was found that defamiliarizing literature serves as a deconstructive force which has the potential to problematize youths’ preconceptions and thus the link to transformative learning was discovered. The online context was found to be characterized by a more affirmative disposition, not offering the same resistance that defamiliarizing literature does. In conclusion the transformative processes showed some similarities but also conspicuous differences regarding tempo and distance for example. The importance of understanding both narratives has been determined and possible methods for implementing these findings to facilitate learning that is compliant with the Swedish curriculum has been presented.
