A Palette of my Inner Universe – To Use Synesthesia in Artistic Processes

In this thesis, the author investigates how the active use of synesthesia can be a tool for artistic work and creative processes, with the aim of finding new creative paths and to find a deeper understanding for inner synesthetic patterns. A method is created by using elements from the author’s synesthesia. The method is used on three experiments regarding lyrics, improvisations and graphic scores together with one final experiment that also encompasses composition. In the final experiment, the elements are used as a source of inspiration rather than definite directives with the intention to reach a more organic form of creating, closer to the author’s regular artistic process. This becomes a method of its own, called the synesthetic method. By adding painting throughout the investigation, the author aims to make something as abstract and subjective as synesthesia more visual and tangible, with the belief that it will help visualize and clarify, both for themselves and others, inner processes of inspiration.

Individer med kolorektalt adenom har två till fyra gånger ökad risk att utveckla kolorektalcancer, och recidiv är mycket vanligt. Tidigare forskning visar på ett samband mellan ett högt fiberintag via kosten och minskad risk för utveckling av kolorektalcancer, men om supplementering med fiber kan påverka risken för recidiv i kolorektalt adenom är fortfarande oklart. Syfte: Syftet med denna systematiska översiktsartikel var att analysera och sammanställa resultat från det befintliga vetenskapliga underlaget om supplementering med vetefiber kan påverka risken för recidiv i kolorektalt adenom. Sökväg: En systematisk litteratursökning gjordes i databaserna PubMed och Scopus. Relevanta MeSH-termer och sökord i fritext, såsom colorectal neoplasms, colorectal cancer, dietary fiber, adenoma, prevention, cancer prevention och colorectal, användes. Urvalskriterier: Randomiserade kontrollerade studier, humanstudier skrivna på engelska, med supplementering med vetefiber som intervention inkluderades. Vuxna, 19 år eller äldre, med ett eller flera tidigare kolorektala adenom inkluderades. Studier som inte använt effektmåttet recidiv i kolorektalt adenom exkluderades. Även individer med kolorektalcancer eller annan cancer, tarmresektion eller Familjär Adenomatös Polypos exkluderades. Datainsamling och analys: De inkluderade studierna granskades enligt SBU:s mall för kvalitetsgranskning av randomiserade studier och evidensstyrkan bedömdes enligt en modifierad version av GRADE, utformad av Göteborgs Universitet. Resultat: Tre studier inkluderades, dock visade ingen på ett statistiskt signifikant samband mellan supplementering med vetefiber och recidiv i kolorektalt adenom. Slutsats: Resultatet i denna systematiska översiktsartikel visade att supplementering med vetefiber inte hade en statistisk signifikant effekt på risken för recidiv i kolorektalt adenom (+++). TANGLED IN A GOLDEN MESH Synesthesia in Virginia Woolf’s Mrs Dalloway and To the Lighthouse

While synesthesia is generally considered to be a subjective representation of one's perception of the world, this essay seeks to problematise and to extend the notion of synesthesia solely being a trait of subjectivity, suggesting that is also works as a method of connection. In the literary field of modernism the idea of merging the senses into an all-encompassing experience has been prominent and widely explored. By examining the use of synesthetic aesthetics in Virginia Woolf's novels Mrs Dalloway (1925) and To the Lighthouse (1927), this essay contributes with knowledge on how Woolf's use of synesthesia works as a means of unification on multiple levels. It gives insight on how her personal understanding of perception affects her depiction of impressions; how her vanguard use of sound and noise works in relation to geographical place; and emphasises her persistent search for a mutual foundation of understanding regarding one's private, internal experience of reality

I det här arbetet undersöker författaren relationen mellan sin text och sin musik. Syftet är att få en djupare förståelse för hur dessa påverkar varandra och för att få en inblick i olika skapandeprocesser. Undersökningen har genomförts genom analyser av tre exempel med olika utgångspunkter; skapande av egen text och musik, textskrivande till redan befintlig komposition och tonsättande av dikt. Under processens gång tas författarens upplevelser av synestesi in i arbetet.
