    Har kvasimarknadsmodellen fungerat som den skall i särskilt boende?

    Verksamheten särskilt boende genomgår institutionella förändringar som resultat av att tjänsterna inom särskilt boende även utförs av privata företag. Privatiseringen genomförs inom ramen för kvasimarknaden som innebär att de tre aktörerna, brukaren, beställaren och utföraren möts på marknaden. Utföraren kan vara en ideell organisation, en kommunal äldreomsorg enhet eller ett privat företag. Artikeln undersöker i vilken utsträckningen, ur brukarens perspektiv, privatiseringen har påverkat de äldres uppfattning om kvalitet inom särskilt boende.

    In the back of your mind: Subliminal influences of religious concepts on prosocial behavior

    Does religion enhance prosocial behavior? We investigate the ways in which implicit influences of religious concepts affect generosity and cooperation. In contrast to previous studies, we assess the direct impact of religion as an independent variable on prosocial behavior. We do so by subliminally priming participants with religious concepts in a scrambled sentence task before they play a dictator game and a prisoner’s dilemma game. We found that implicit priming of religious concepts significantly increased prosocial behavior in both games. This result was present among both religious and nonreligious participants. Selfreported measure of religiosity was related neither to generosity nor to cooperation.

    Labor Force Decisions to Migrate

    This paper works on the idea that migration is explained as the result of an imitation process. So, we develop a suitable model for the study of migration driven by imitative behavior, i.e. migrate if the others are doing. We show that there exists a threshold value for the impact of emigration in the birth country and in the host country. Finally, we oer some elements of economic policy to avoid the negative externalities that migration may cause.

    Technical Efficiency During Deregulation of the Urban Bus System in Sweden

    This paper compares the levels of technical efficiency reached by bus transport companies during the period 1989-1996, taking into account the deregulation context in which they operate. The empirical evidence reveals that there are no substantial changes in the use of inputs after the bus transport market deregulation. The efficiency measures obtained in this study show that the gap between the most and the least efficient company varied very little during the observation period. These results could be explained by the presence of homogeneity between the companies with respect to the adoption of technology and utilisation of labour and capital
