DEN EUROPEISKA IDENTITETEN - EU:s argument och implementering av den Europeiska identiteten
(2020-06-26) Steifo, Tomas; Göteborgs universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen; University of Gothenburg/Department of Political Science
It is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore how culture affects the collective identity and what kind of identity the EU wants to achieve. The purpose of the thesis is to see how EU's agreements between the member states are used as guidelines for the cooperation and what goals should be achieved, in order to then analyze how these are implemented and accomplished. The aim is to examine how EU combines national cultures with the common identity and what kind of identity (civil or cultural) the EU aims to achieve in its arguments that appear in treaties but also in the Creative Europe program. The essay analyzes the Creative Europe project as well as the Treaty of Rome, the Treaty of Maastricht and the Treaty of Lisbon based on an argumentation analysis. This study contributes to understanding what EU wants to achieve with the Creative Europe program and the Treaties, which is the civil identity. The awards and remarks from Creative Europe encourage and contribute to the common EU identity.

Hybrid onboarding - Its impact on newly hired employees
(2023-06-29) Steifo, Tomas; Thomasson, Oskar; University of Gothenburg/Graduate School; Göteborgs universitet/Graduate School
This thesis explores hybrid onboarding and its impact on newly hired employees. The research questions for the study were: (1) What are the consequences of hybrid onboarding for newly hired employees? and (2) How does hybrid onboarding contribute to creating realistic job expectations? The study implemented a qualitative research approach, which included semi-structured interviews that focused on studying the experiences and beliefs of participants undergoing a hybrid onboarding. In the analysis and discussion, it was concluded that social interactions and personalized experiences were key to maintaining confidence and excitement when undergoing the hybrid onboarding process. Only looking at the digital materials was perceived to be challenging for newly hired employees with no previous job experience but combining this with personalized interactions helped create a bridge for understanding the gap between onboarding and regular work experience, to then create an accurate image of the job. The study emphasizes that for a successful employee onboarding and expectation setting, it is crucial that one looks at socialization, personalized experiences, and the integration of digital and in-person elements in hybrid.

Organisationers innovativa lösningar och samarbeten för att fortsätta kunna bedriva sina verksamheter under Covid-19-pandemin. En kvalitativ studie
(2022-02-16) Lorén, Gustaf; Steifo, Tomas; University of Gothenburg/Department of Business Administration; Göteborgs universitet/Företagsekonomiska institutionen
Organizations whose activities are affected by the restriction laws due to covid-19 spreading, lose a large part of their incomes. It's not about circumventing the restrictions, it's about innovative solutions that allow them to continue to run their business and create value for customers without risking the spread of covid-19. The purpose of this essay is to see what innovative solutions companies have implemented to continue their business and what characterizes these solutions. The thesis applies a qualitative method to answer the purpose of the study. Our cases will be analyzed based on Sarasvathy five principles for effectuation. Companies and people who have been selected for this thesis are: UFC, NBA, English National Opera, Berliner Ensemble, Fringe Festival, SOCAN, Ikea, Hotel and restaurant, Kjell & Company and Circle K, Kevin Hart, David Dobrik, Göteborgs Filmfestival and a Drive- in-cinema. What we can generally see in the companies we present is that they only invest or make investments with funds that they can afford to lose, regardless of their size, turnover, ability, etc., so the organizations in relation to themselves have required small investments.
