    Market surveillance of manufactorers and importers. Arbete och Hälsa 1999:11. The ambition is to improve the working environment by carrying out market surveillance for machines intended for forestry, agriculture and garden trade. Also, the user's understanding and way of using the Swedish Ordinance was controlled. Labour inspectors make, except market surveillance of machinery, questioning with management in 100 enterprises and give information about and interpretation- of the Machinery Directive. Out of 433 controlled machines 65 % had EC Declaration of Conformity, 77 % CE marking, 78 % the manual and more than 75 % the signs. Moreover control whether the enterprises could use the Machinery Directive was carried out. An account makes for differences between larger and smaller enterprises and also between manufacturers and importers. Future market surveillance of machinery should emphasize the technical requirements. It is possible to apply a simplified method for the administrative part of market surveillance.
