Abstract

Within the VG-region, Region Västra Götaland, there are about 600 healthcare systems with in big ways non-existing integration, which have led to high charges. The VG-region’s ambition is that all systems shall integrate with help of a portal,”A window to the information”. The main purpose with the essay was to see which gaining’s an integration of healthcare system could bring and what speaks against. Other purpose was to see which gaining’s Kungälvs Sjukhus could get on the integration that already is done, or soon will be done. A healthcare portal is a solution, which connects the existent systems, while Siemens offer a new system with all functionalities. Secrecy, integrity and security are important aspects then the patient journal becomes available for all with authority within the region. We have both a positivistic and a hermeneutic standpoint that base on a qualitative and a quantitative approach. Some of the most important gaining’s of the integration are better healthcare quality for the patients, better work rhythm for the personnel and economic gaining’s. The technique exists, but through an integration of bad system the system will not become better. It is important that the healthcare personnel know the policy of IT-security that exists at the hospital.
