CADI – Situationsberoende förarinformation Analys, design, utveckling och utvärdering av en interaktiv instruktionsbok för fordon
Abstract
The goal of this master thesis is to investigate how to support a driver with information about his vehicle. The master thesis is based on action research studies with the goal to determine design parameters in how a driver can be supported with
an electrical instructions manual. A prototype for Context-Aware Driver Information (CADI) was developed for supporting drivers in car maintenance. CADI is a context-aware mobile instruction manual, executed on a PocketPC. The application contains an interactive instructions manual and a car communications facility that connects to the car through dedicated hardware. These two parts are combined to make a dynamic instruction manual that
always can support the driver with information about the car, this information is updated as long as the application is connected with the car. After development, CADI was evaluated to test if an electrical instructions manual can help drivers to maintain and understand their car. The evaluation gave some insights on how this technology can be implemented in cars in the near feature.
