dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this essay was to investigate the possibility to convert an existing desktop based
ICT-program to a more mobile solution. The ICT program was designed for technicians that maintain the access grid in Sweden. With uses of existing knowledge, field studies and qualitative interviews a study has been conducted in cooperation with a company. A prototype has later on been developed with the findings from the study as a base for the design.
The study tries to answer two research questions: How do technicians at Flextronics Network
Service work today? How should a mobile ICT program be designed to make the daily work of
technicians more efficient and easier?
The study points out some design solutions that should be considered when creating the system.
As far as possible the design should be made in a way that only one hand is needed for interaction. The touch-sensible screen is hard to use during field work, but as a contradiction it is also hard to design a complete solution with no or minimal user input with the screen. | swe |
