The main keyword in this Master thesis is 'acceptance'. Acceptance is crucial for the success of a trend, a TV-program, or a computer-program. If a product, service or concept is not accepted and used, the causes often lead to financial losses and bad will, often resulting in notice of dismissal or in a worst-case scenario bankruptcy. Development of software has created new possibilities for companies to enhance the competence among employees. An information technology that has made this development possible is called groupware, where the main objectives are to support communication, co-operation, and co-ordination within a working group. The possibility to early identify the knowledge and perceptions of a user makes it easier to avoid certain problems when developing software-applications. We, the authors of this Masters thesis, have focused our interest on factors that are crucial for acceptance and the use of groupware. During our earlier studies there has been a main focus of the importance to involve the users in the process of software engineering. We have found it interesting to use this knowledge in the real world and explore how people&#39s perceptions influence the conditions for an implementation of a future software-application. This thesis has been made for the company Utbildning GTU AB. The purpose of this Master thesis is to conduct a fundamental analysis to examine the conditions for a successful implementation of a future groupware-application that supports recruitment and competence-improvement. The working title on this application is REKO. The main question of this thesis is as follows: What are the conditions that REKO will be accepted and used by the users? Methods used in this thesis are interviews and a statistical survey. The target group was the proposed users of REKO. The aim was to receive significant information about the proposed user attitudes towards using REKO. The conclusion drawn from the analysis is that the conditions are altogether too poor for acceptance and use of REKO that supports competence-improvement. The main reason for us making this conclusion is that, even though there is a great demand for this service, the analysis did show significant conflict of interests concerning the control of REKO. However, the conditions are all the better for acceptance and use of REKO, that only supports recruitment, since there is a great demand for this service. The analysis did not show any conflict of interests in this matter. We therefore recommend development and implementation of a groupware that supports recruitment.swe
