Scenerier i glas - ett projekt om mönstermoduler
Abstract
The present project was initiated with the aim to create pattern modules for use in public environments. My intention was to let the properties, of the specific materials used, have a marked influence on the realisation of the final form. I also wanted to find a material, which is suitable from the perspective of sustainability
and possibilities to create modules from it. The work was initiated with a study of some candidate materials and many sketches before I finally made my choice. My decision was clear after a visit to the company Glasfabriken in
Kalmar. The choice was therefore to work with pattern modules of glass with laminated pictures. The leading motive for my further work was chosen to be repetition in combination with variation. I chose to sand blast one kind of my
modules. The patterns created are inspired by old wall papers from the 19th century, which often show people in outdoor sceneries, which are framed by, or connected by, vegetation of various kinds. My new version of such kinds of
patterns show people in different everyday situations and these modules are surrounded by pictures of parsley and trees. The resulting arrangement consists of a number of different glass pattern modules, which are intended to be
used together or as single objects according to what is suitable for the specific environment. I have adapted the production methods for my pictures for serial production and they could therefore be regarded as a sample collection. The modules are intended to be mounted with the aid of aluminium profiles with the preferred pattern modules and to the total size suitable for the choice of the user.
