Youngbloods

Abstract

The goal of this project was to create the music video for swedish pop/rock band Antennas’ single Youngbloods, from their album Feeling Feline Tonight (2009). The video was made through animation, collages, photography and illustration. The main focus for the video was to create an independent visual story and to implement an investigation of how different technics for creating and documenting images and motion result in different interpretations of the content. The work was characterized by an active search for contrasts and contradictions. My approach to the project was to work with a child’s curiosity, but with the discipline of an adult. Through this I was hoping to reach a result that expressed a thoughtful and subtle narrative approach, as well as fiercely experimenting and lustily questioning. I also developed the use of objective associations as a tool to avoid preconceived notions, but with the feared risk that it would give rise to a straggly and too inconsistent result.
