dc.description.abstract	Web applications are applications that are executed in a web browser. There are several technologies available for the development of web applications. The availability of these different technologies is a good thing. Without knowledge of the merits of the individual technologies however, it is difficult to choose which technology should be used for a particular project. In order to help solve this problem, this thesis presents a comparative evaluation of two web application technologies, Microsoft Silverlight 2 and Sun's JavaFX. The basis for the comparison has been the performance of the technologies measured through a series of benchmarks.	en
