art.description.projectI was consultant curator of the project. I undertake archival research and then conservation and cataloguing of English’s original work. English’s work has been largely obscured within British Art History and I wrote several papers for artevents on his possible relation to the history of UK conceptualism and radical land art practices. I also established a series of national partnerships with the 75 nodes of his work and a series of media partnerships resulting in English appearing regularly on radio and TV during his journey.sv
art.description.summaryI was consultant curator to the agency artevents, who commissioned artist Simon English to revisit 75 points that he first encountered in the making of his monumental All England Sculpture, (1971).

From July until September 2010 Simon revisited hedgerows and roadsides, flyovers and forests, fields and fallow terrain, cities, town and hamlets. During his journey Simon catalysed another generation of encounters between people and place and between artist and landscape. He photographed 40 years of history as inscribed in the English landscape.

In 2011 at regular intervals Simon uploaded current images of the points revisited to compare with images taken in 1971. England Revisited exploits the technological opportunities of the present to re-visit the past and re-enchant the leylines of a journey first made almost 40 years ago.sv
