Utslagningsmetoder för trappor – en jämförande studie
Abstract
This is a comparative study of staircase drawing techniques. The existent literature on the
subject either lack comprehension or consists of long coherent texts that are complex, which
makes it difficult to understand. I have chosen three different ways of how to make drawings of
single winder staircase, this stair has one 90° turn: the circle method, the method of proportions and the distribution method. These three techniques seem to be the most often and elaborately described methods of building doctrines. The names of the methods are directly translated from Swedish to English and not accepted as far as I know.
The survey aims to compare and describe the three selected methods in order to choose one of
them as the base on which to create a manual for stair manufacturing. My questions for
answering have been, what separates the methods and are there any similarities? If one or more of them are custom to use for a carpenter? Are there any benefits in any of the methods, based on my inquiry and point of view?
I have summarized the essential information regarding staircase drawing from literature by
Holmgren, Östlund, Willibald and Kjellin and elaborated on their work with my own
conclusions. My conclusions ends up in a checklist, or a manual on how to make stair drawings in a comprehensive, simple and descriptive manner for a carpenter, with a balance between text and drawings to make it easy to follow and understand. My hopes are that this manual will be used to make the craft of manufacturing stairs more accessible for carpenters.
