dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this research is to assess the state of management efforts towards sustainability in higher education institutions. The analysis is based on two main sources of data. On the one hand an analysis of the performance level of one institution using single case study. On the other hand a secondary analysis of case-studies from around the globe. Sustainability its being integrated into management objectives in higher education institutions. The analysis shows that sustainability-oriented practices are being developed in complex ways due to its variety of contexts of application. This research provides a state of the art regarding sustainability in higher education institutions. It has the potential to aid any organization to better reflect, incorporate and institutionalise sustainability related concepts. However, this research is limited by the time and funding to be able to analyse a global phenomenon.sv
