dc.description.abstract | This study examines the potential of the oil sector in the emerging economy of Mexico.
Important energy reforms were initiated in 2013 and their implementation will determine future liberalisation and development of the oil sector. The purpose of this study is to provide a deep understanding of the recent past, current situation and the potential near future developments of the oil sector in Mexico. A SWOT analysis represented the conceptual
framework for the conducted research. Dunning’s eclectic framework concerning the theory of ownership-location-internalization of firms’ internationalisation process, was applied as a theoretic framework of the study. The findings of this study conclude that the oil sector has long been inefficiently managed with lacking technological expertise and financial resources.
The initiated reform, if implemented, could boost the oil production and increase economic
growth in Mexico in the near future. | sv |
