Relikta landskap i Lommaryds socken – identifiering av bandparceller med hjälp av laserdata.
Relict landscape in Lommaryd parish - identification of bandparceller using laser data
Abstract
This essay is based on laser data delivered by National Land Survey of Sweden (Lantmäteriet) to study historical landscapes. The studied objects are based on historical maps of four villages in Lommaryd parish that indicate bandparceller, which is a fossil system of narrow agricultural fields. These kind of agrarian landforms are not very common in this part of Sweden today. The most known findings are located in the provinces of Scania and West Gothland.
This paper presents earlier research in agricultural studies of bandparceller throughout the years. Also experiences of working with laser data in purpose of mapping and discovering new cultural objects in the landscape is mentioned.
In Sweden there has only been one comprehensive publishing about the use of laser data for cultural heritage research (2013).
The method used to indicate bandparceller in historical maps and laser data is based on literature studies and comparison with other similar researches. The indications in the analyzed material are finally confirmed by a field survey.
The results are presented in georectified maps, charts and text. The analysis of the historical maps and laser data shows, after the field survey, how reliable this method is and what you can expect from laser data delivered by National Land Survey of Sweden.
