dc.description.abstractThe purpose of the study was to analyze the use of history in Swedish history schoolbooks for upper secondary school. It also tries to see if either of the books where the ultimate schoolbook. The object for the research were the industrial revolution. It was analyzed in how the authors presented the industrial revolution, how it differed, how much text where used and how the industrial revolution in Sweden where presented. It also research how well the books where adapted to LGY 11. The material used are four different schoolbooks for upper secondary school in Sweden for the course Historia 1b. The method used were the qualitative text analysis, with the use of Magnus Hermansson Adler´s theory of the good schoolbook in history. The study shows the likeness in the different books but also the differences between them. There were some differences in how much text the different books choose to use in their presentation there were a large difference between two of the books, but also that one of the book lacked the presentation of the industrial revolution in Sweden. One of the books also chose a different path and presented the political systems from the time in depth. The study also finds that the books are well adapted to LGY 11 in different ways. It also describes how the books fit in to the good schoolbook, where none of the books by themselves fit.sv
