Frontier Vernacular
Summary
An exhibition of work by Gabo Camnitzer.
Description of project
"This exhibition consists of three series dealing with the intersection of the permanent and the fragile, the overbearing and the accessible.
I am trying to re-envision our architectural past through the prism of a possible future vernacular style. This is an exercise in starting over with the end built in: prefab ruins for the future.
The works perhaps could be seen as small propositions for alternative building blocks for civilization. They are prototypes for a new frontier colony that, no longer weighed down by the permanence of our decisions nor the inherited knowledge first gathered by our forbears, includes a past yet to happen."
