Hur förhåller sig EU till en (o)hållbar utveckling? En studie av EU:s klimatpolitiska samhällsstyrning inom jordbruks- och klimatpolitiken
Abstract
This bachelor thesis, written as a part of the European Studies at Gothenburg University, is concerned with the European Unions’ (EU) climate political governance in their both climate- and agricultural policy, and in particularly the question whether it is sustainable. This thesis intends to problematize if it is possible for the EU to continue to pursue its current agricultural policies, while at the same
time maintain its role as a sustainable actor on the global arena. The framework of the
EUs’ climate policy governance disciplines this analysis. The thesis theoretical basis lays in two different climate policy governance models, the 'market-oriented governance model' and the 'technology-and innovation-oriented governance model'.
This study seeks to theorize what impact(s) these two climate policy governance models have on the EUs’ climate and agricultural policy. The author found that the EU actively advocating measures and procedures for the benefit of a better environment and a better climate. The climate of political governance that emerges in EU agricultural policy is regarded as a sign that the climate and agriculture are
integrated again. The author would, however, argue that the above observation is not equated with the fact that the EU has achieved the epithets ‘sustainable’.
