D: Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are becoming an important part of a growing of number organizations. Implementing ERP systems is a significant, and costly, challenge. While much has been written about the Critical Success Factors (CSFs) for implementing ERP systems in large organizations, less has been written about the CSFs for implementing ERP systems at Small-to-Midsize Enterprises (SMEs). OBJECTIVE: The objective of this research is to identify and synthesize the most important CSFs for implementing ERP systems in SMEs. METHODOLOGY: We use the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) research methodology, which is the recommended Evidence-Based Software Engineering (EBSE) methodology for collecting and presenting softwareengineering- related evidence. RESULTS: Based on our research, the top five CSFs for implementing ERP systems in SMEs are: Project Management; Team Composition Skills, and Engagement; Clear Strategic Vision, Scope, and Goals; Change Management; and Top Management Support and Commitment. CONCLUSION: The study of the CSFs for implementing EPR systems in SMEs is a rich and valuable topic for academic research that can have a direct and significant impact for organizations considering implementing or upgrading ERP systems at their organizations. The research shows that some CSFs are more important than others, but which ones depend on various factors, some concrete, such as geographic location, others subjective and/or falling on a spectrum, such as team competence, for one.sv
