Exklusiva hyresrätter som lösning på unga vuxnas bostadsproblem
Abstract
The housing shortage is a fact in large metropolitan areas. Expected increase in population of young adults, a low supply of tenancies and increased parental accommodation describes part of the whole housing problem; young adults’ difficulties in the housing market. This combined with a housing policy that advocates exclusive new constructions to start vacancy chains is an equation that does not add up. This study seeks to determine how the current housing policy affects young adults directly and indirectly on the housing market. A survey was conducted to help us reach the answer. Few of those who have moved in to the newly produced tenancies are young adults with low-income and the tenancies neither have generated vacancies in already existing stock. The new constructions do not help the young adults to enter the housing market nor other capital-weak groups. The study contributes to the understanding of how the current housing policy affects the already hard-hit by the current housing shortage.
