One of the most cultivated crops in the world is potatoes. But since the middle of the 19th century there has been major problem caused of late blight. This problem is found both in conventional and organic cultivations. The purpose of this study is to investigate methods producers of organic potatoes use in their cultivation. The methods are about how Phytophthora infestans, late blight, can be prevented, without chemical pesticides. The producers who have been interviewed have their cultures from Båstad in the south to Lövånger in the north of Sweden. All the producers were contacted to obtain an overview of the different kinds of potatoes that are best suited for organic cultivation. And also to find out which methods the producers prefer to use, to avoid late blight without using any form of chemical pesticides. The objective of this study is to gain knowledge about methods that can practices to prevent mold from late blight. Hopefully the study will also contribute household growers how to get greater awareness of sustainable organic cultivation. In summary, the study can also demonstrate that the producer of potatoes and the literature agrees about which steps required to get a minimal attack of late blight. A crop rotation of four to six years should be applied, early potato varieties should be pre-germinated and varieties which are added should be resistant or have high resistance to late blight.sv
