and
was
fully
supported
and
financed
by

Description of project
For
further
understanding
of
decolonial
methods
and

–
continuously

–
I
started
to
develop
and
curate
a
series
of
research
seminars
in
Spring
2015.
Throughout
these
forums,
different
thoughts
on
de
coloniality,
hospitality
practices,
pluriversalism,
diversity,
migration
politics
and
knowledge
are
embraced.
The
main
idea
is
to
invite
artists,
curators
and
researchers
from
diverse
practices
and
fields
to
engage
in
conversation,
promote
and
foster
colla
borations
for
the
development
of
such
queries
and
practices
within
contemporary
art.
The
series
is
aimed
primarily
for
Academy
Valand
students
and
local
art
practitioners
and
students
and
scholars
at
the
Critical
Heritage,
Gender,
Cultural
and
Global
Studi
es
faculties.
The
seminars
are
free
and
open
for
a
wider
public
in
the
city
as
well.
Another
main
concern
is
to
encourage
the
formation
of
south
-‐
to
-‐
south
dialogues
that
are
very
marginal
in
the
segregated
institution
of
the
Univers
ity
of
Gothenburg
and
its
city.

Paula

and
Louise

s
(DK).
Louise
Wolthers
was
invited
to
moderate
the
seminar
based
on
her
interesting
research
practice,
lately
based
on
a
project
on
lens
-‐
based
surveillance
technologies,
practices
and
ethics.
Daniel
Baker
was
invited
to
consider
his
research
with
the
'Ro
ma
model’
and
Roma
aesthetics:
to
respond
and
expand
on
whether
notions
on
nomadic
sensibility,
extra
-‐
territoriality
and
emancipating
methods
behind
the
Roma
model,
could
potentially
be
interpreted
onto
other
decolonial
practices
(or
minorities
).
Geir
Tore
Holm
was
invited
to
reflect
on
his
project
‘Poetics
for
Changing
Aesthetics’:
to
expand
on
the
question
of
indigeneity
as
being
part
of
the
migration
question
or
group,
as
well
as
when
indigeneity
is
not
considered
in
the
construction
of
nation,
its
plura
l
and
individual
identity
and
possibly
its
nomadic
heritage.
Paula
Urbano
was
invited
to
present
her
film
project
'Flyktingen
av
den
sorgliga
skepnaden’
(2015),
expanding
on
her
artistic
methodologies
used
in
the
production
of
her
film
as
well
as
in
other
projects,
when
depicting
but
also
modifying
a
migrant
image
or
an
image
of
Otherness.
During
the
day
preceding
the
seminar,
her
film
was
screened
hourly.
The
seminar
marked
as
an
important
lead
for
my
artistic
research
considering
decolonial
discourse
at
and
throu
gh
the
academy,
also
considering
the
[para]curatorial
practice
experienced.
The
series
will
hopefully
continue
and
develop
into
bigger
and
wider
assemblies
hopefully
providing
room
and
thought
for
collaboration,
discussion
and
research
towards
dec
oloniality
within
contemporary
art
practices.
