dc.description.abstract | There are situations when the signal is bad which decreases the possibility to connect to relay
masts. With the assistance of other communications it should be a opportunity to connect to
wherever you are. The ongoing digital innovation is expected to expand in the forthcoming
years in order to connect things. This digital innovation is called the Internet of Things. When
the number of connected things increase dramatically, another main issue appear which is the
energy and power processing. This thesis examines and evaluates how new wireless
communications technologies affects the digital innovation. The purpose of this paper is to in
the context of the Internet of Things and digital innovation evaluate new communication
possibilities. This study examines a specific communication technology that can be used in
the automotive industry, and whether it can create benefits for vehicle owners in relation to
the current solution. Our empirical study consists of collecting as much information about the
area as possible, and then interviewing people with high expertise in the field and observe
people who used the system that constitutes empirical case in this paper. We have followed
the method Design Science Research Methodology. The development and evaluation in this
study is connected to a case in the automotive industry, which will be presented in the
introduction. In connection with the case, we are developing an application that supports the
focused technology. We then evaluate the application to see how new communications
technologies can contribute to the efficiency of the users of board computers. The study
shows that new communication technologies will become increasingly relevant because of
the digital innovation. The digital innovation may require examination of better
communication opportunities. | sv |
