art.description.project"The Pros" was shot before an audience where they were able to see the director Cecilia Torquato and the photographer Dick Pope's work. The studio audience are not just observers, they are given an active voice in learning. A moderator works during the entire filming process to adress questions or share information between the audience members and crew. The film was shot in one day.sv
art.description.summaryThe film start as an action B-movie. But something goes wrong, the lights turns on and the film turns into something else. It becomes a film about the shooting of a film. All "the pros" reunited to do something that goes wrong over and over again. The film is a critique of the trend in the film industry of copying itself. And more specifically, it is a critique of Swedish film productions, trying to copy Hollywood films; repeating it's ideology through flat dialogues and with a worn out jargon. The art in filmmaking is held back in favor of the idea that there even is a "film industry" in small countries. The crew runs around hiding behind an alleged professionalism, but many times it becomes very clear that they don't know what they are doing. The distance between those who works with film and the subject they portray becomes clear when the lights is turned on and the illusion is broken, turning the action-movie we first thought we were watching into a comedy.sv
