The purpose of this study is to broaden the understanding of the garden´s significance for the overall picture of the farm. The aim is to create a valuation model especially designed for a historical garden on the countryside. By using a garden on the countryside from the 17th century as an example the author strives to simplify the use of the valuation model on a similar garden. Information is obtained by observations and inventory in field, through interviews with owners and an examination of plant assortment in written sources. Part of the methodology has been a practical propagation of four historic cultivated plants and an apple tree growing on the destination. The knowledge of the peasants garden is limited in Sweden. The latest research show a inadequate documentation of historic cultivated plants in cadastral map notes from the 18th and 19th century. In recent decades the documentation is considerably more ample in connection with contemporary literature. However, the literature is written in a more generalizing language, leaving the details concerning peasants garden poorly documented. The Swedish government created a tool called POM (the Program of cultivated diversity) back in year 2000 to reach the goal of UN Convention on Biological Diversity. POM is working towards pursuing the goal of UN by collecting and storing historical cultivated plants in Sweden. The valuation model used in this study is partly based on POM ś inventory methods. The study resulted in a valuation model which through its description, shows the valuation of a gardens history, visiting experience and inventory. The valuation model will later on result in a maintenance plan concerning the inquired object.sv
