This thesis investigates which lifting methods and what kind of lifting equipment professional and experienced carpenters use when they are jacking up/lifting log houses that is in need of repairing. When performing the job of changing logs in a log house frame due to wood rot or similar, jacking up the frame, or parts of it, is a phenomenon that is most often required. Whether the damaged logs are located in the sill or in the middle of the frame wall, some sort of lifting equipment and method will be required to perform the lift in a safe and effective manner. The investigating part of this thesis is mainly structured by interviews with five professional carpenters. They are all working in different small scale building conservation companies, either as employers or employees, and they are all active in different parts of Sweden. The interviews were performed together with one informant per occasion. The results presents the kind of lifting equipment, complementary lifting devices and lifting methods that the informants use during the initial moments of a reparation process.sv
