Artist Books: Reinventing work in book form
Summary
With paintings and other previously resolved work as a point of departure I am creating books. The books change the way the works are “read” through the format of multiple pages and allows the re-exploration or elaboration of meanings.
Two books “The Air We Do Not Breathe” and “Off the Charts”.

Description of project
The idea is to make books out of work which has been made as 2 or 3 dimensional work. Thus to explore the possibility of re-interpretation, expansion of the meanings in the work through the format of the book (i.e. page after page or a narrative format). I printed two books (20 copies each) in Bangalore India for an exhibition at an apartment gallery “Home Sweet Home” in Bangalore in July 2017. “The Air We Do Not Breathe” is made from 12 watercolor paintings about air-bag packaging. “Off the Charts” are five pages made by photographing five passages in one watercolor painting. I understood through this work that I can produce many books from work, and that this form might even be a more interesting form for the ideas. Also that I can then distribute the work without necessarily have an exhibition in a gallery or public space—but distribute through bookstores, websites for artist books.
Type of work
Books for distribution in gallery shows, through website and eventually bookstores or sites for artist’s books.
