Description of project
Blackbook Publications is a independent publishing collective that works with the printed photograph as an artistic object. Since 2009, collective artists and their publications have been exhibited at exhibitions and festivals all over the world, as well as awarded scholarships and won design prizes. The exhibition at the Center for Photography is designed to show the potential of the artistic print, its ability to reach a large audience while creating an intimate meeting with the viewer.
Centrum For Photography is a member organisation and gallery located in Stockholm.
We as a collective of photograpers working with the book as a medium and plattform for our photograpic practices had an idea that we all together could contribute to create a book to this exhibition. The idea was to give all of us active photographers in Blackbook Publication one A3 sheet of paper that was going to be printed and layed out on the floor at the exhibition. The visitor was challenged to assemble their own book in their own order and pace. The aim of this collective works was to open up for the visitor to what a artist book could be and that they participate in making the works.
