Research about relationships and love is not a new phenomenon. The belief in true love can make people marry strangers on TV. The aim of this thesis was to examine the Swedish production of the TV-show Gift vid första ögonkastet. A qualitative approach has been used to gather data. A grand narrative analysis has been made of the show where stories about wedding, love and togetherness and how it is built up has been identified. The result has been discussed based on three theories; Erving Goffmans (2014) theatrical performances, Anthony Giddens (1995) concept pure relationship and Anthony Giddens (1999) concept expert systems. Based on the theories the shows norm for love and the roles the participants can take in different situations has been highlighted. It is not unusual to seek help from experts when we are to make decisions in our everyday life. Our results show that the participant put more trust in the experts than themselves when it comes to choosing a partner.sv
