#Orosanmälan. En kvantitativ studie av socialarbetares erfarenheter av sexuellt våld
# Orosanmälan: A quantitative study of social workers' experiences of sexual violence
Abstract
The aim for this study was to research testimonies given from Swedish social workers on their experiences of sexual violence given under #orosanmälan, focusing on the different types of sexual violence experienced, the relationship between the victim and the perpetrator, and the reactions on the violence coming from the surroundings such as witnesses and coworkers.
#Orosanmälan is a specific hashtag for the social work field, stemming from the #metoo-movement, and grew to include over 11,000 members in its Facebook group after coming about in the fall of 2017.
A quantitive approach was used on the study to allow to put the 301 testimonies given into statistical descriptions, allowing us to overview a vast material. As it is a relatively new occurrence that women vocalize their exposure to sexual violence, we saw a need for compiling these valuable testimonies.
Our question formulations were:
What kind of act of sexual violence is described in the testimonies?
What similarities and disparities occur in the testimonies?
What types of response from the surroundings of the sexual violence can be measured from the testimonies?
To better understand the material, we used content analysis as our research method, and to analyze the collected data we used theories such as the generic process of telling sexual stories by Kenneth Plummer, the continuum of sexual violence by Liz Kelly and response-based practice by Allan Wade.
