Abstract

This thesis examines urban mobility plans with the help of European planning traditions to better understand urban mobility planning in a wider context and provide more knowledge about sustainable urban development. According to the Leipzig Charter, there is a need for more knowledge regarding sustainable urban development, this study aims to provide more knowledge in that area. To do so, this study is going to analyse urban mobility plans to see if they can be explained and understood with the help of European planning traditions. This will be done by doing an analysis of the urban mobility plans with different factors found in the European planning traditions. The study finds that with the help of European planning traditions it is easier to explain and understand the plans and the context they were created in. This result will lead to an increased knowledge about urban development and will therefore be of significance in the aim of sustainability and urban development.
