This study aims to investigate and describe the condition of lapsed pollarded lime trees 30 years after restoration and to evaluate the long term impact of the restoration method on the trees and their associated habitats. The trees in the study has a history of pollarding, followed by a period of non pollarding for 30-50 years. After that the trees where cut back to the old bolds. The study was made as a quantitative case study where 133 trees where investigated. The tree survey where made as a visual inspection. Information collected from each tree was: vitalty, girth, position of the tree, cavities and holes, vitality of the bark and diameter of branch cut during restoration. The results of the study is presented with descriptive statistics. 95 % of the original trunks are alive but many indivuals has a decreasing vitality. The population as a whole appears to be in a bad condition. The study argues that the restoration effort made on the pollards in Hallstad ängar has caused the shortening of tree lives and that habitats and biodiversity is threatened.sv
