SD-Kvinnor & jämställdhetsparadoxen – en kvalitativ analys av ’Kvinnan’ i nationens tjänst
Abstract
This thesis examines how the women’s association of the Swedish Democrats, SD-Kvinnor define the concept of the ‘Woman’ and use womanhood as a basis for their nationalistic political agenda. The thesis also examines if there is a specific notion of the ideal ‘Woman’ in ‘SD-Kvinnor’. The thesis uses the methods of visual text analysis and qualitative interview, which are framed by discourse analysis. Through an analysis of qualitative interviews and SD-Kvinnor’s online presence the thesis examines the concept of the ‘Woman’ through the subject’s position of mother, victim and politician. Theories used in the study are Judith Butler’s Performativity, Maud Eduard’s Body Politics, Yvonne Hirdman’s Formulas of the womanhood and her Stereotypical contract of gender. The thesis concludes by presenting the argument that SD-Kvinnor reproduces the ‘Woman’ as subordinate to the ‘Man’, paradoxically under the guise of equality.
