Individuella rättigheter eller allmänhetens bästa? En litteraturstudie och ideologianalys av antivaccinationsrörelsen, för att diskutera rättvisa, mänskliga rättigheter och negativ global påverkan.
Abstract
This literary study is trying to discuss and analyse the global occurrence of antivaccination movements and why the movement has grown so in the recent years. By referencing to Italy, where a new law has been implemented, stating that no child under the age of sixteen is allowed to attend school unvaccinated, two global development goals has been pitted against one another, basic education vs. global health. I examine the ideology of the antivaccination movement in which we view and discuss justice theories and obligations to the society, to reach an overall understanding of the ideology. Eventhough the movement is a socially constructed movement, it has an overall negative impact on the global health. In conclusion I reach an understanding on human rights in this particular case, and discuss on which premises one should answer the following question; Which weighs the heaviest, individual rights or global health?
