Översvämningars påverkan på Göteborgs hamninlopp. - En studie baserad på framtidsscenarier
Abstract
The mean sea level is expected to increase globally, with local variations, due to climate
change and according to IPCC´s scenario RCP 8,5 this will mean an increase of 0,7 meter in
Gothenburg, with the isostasy included. This effect has been taken into account by the
planning office in Gothenburg when presenting the proposal of storm surge barriers in
Gothenburg harbor. This proposal was approved in september 2018. The outer barrier is
expected to be built right outside Älvsborgsbron. The outer harbor will then be outside the
barrier and no protection measures of this area was presented.
This research has the aim to explore the area outside the barrier and how it will
be affected by future flooding through the use of different scenarios in GIS. The results from
the GIS analysis has then been used as the basis for further investigations of the different
places socio-culture values. To explore these values interviews were held with two of the
industries in Gothenburg harbor and with the local public at the recreation sites.
The results of this study show that if these scenarios were to become reality the
area will be affected greatly by flooding. The industry will suffer mostly economic losses due
to damaged customer relations. The public will suffer consequences in forms of disrupted
socio-culture values.
The conclusion of this research aims to shed light on the importance of
protecting this area in a similar way like the city of Gothenburg is planning to protect the city
center.
