art.description.projectThis exhibition grew from being a show about the Blackbook Publications books from the last decade into an investigation of what it is to work with publications and publishing. The group of photographers active in Blackbook Publications set up a series of skype meetings pre the show where we discussed the last decade of work with publications and publishing. We decided quite early in the process that we wanted to do something more than exhibiting our books on tables for the audience to flicker through. We wanted to be as generous as possible to the visitors and to a create space and a place for them to work with the making of a publication. We decided to do a show with three main strands. The first one was about our own references. The second one was about the content that is within some of our publications and how we could re-think this material into a space such as the Kunsthall. The third one was to create a place and space where publications where made from the visitors. In the he first strand we selected and collected our own references that then was put on for display on tables in the exhibition. To the second strand we decided to collectedly curate a show with framed works from books that we had published this decade. These books was also on display for the visitors to feel and touch. And in the last strand we worked with the visitor as a contributing artist. Here we placed a printer with an easy access to print images from the visitors smartphone and also an archive with images from our own archives. We also arranged a series of workshops with pupils from 6th and 9th grade where they collectively contributed to a publication that was manifested as a mood board on one of the walls. This exhibition/publication was on display for the whole show and this wall grew with contributions from school classes and other visitors. Looking back at the show I think we could have put more effort into the workshops and have had an overarching theme where we invited other associations such as PRO or Unions e.g for collaboration.sv

Blacbook Publications was founded by Kalle Sanner & Simon Berg in 2009. Blackbook Publications were invited to do a show in Alingsås Konsthall with the focus on the works that had been produced within Blackbook Publications first decade. We decided to do a show with three main strands. The first one was about our own references. The second one was about the content that is within some of our publications and how we could re-think this material into a space such as the Kunsthall.
