The aim of this study is to draw attention to experiences of going through gender assessments to gain deeper insight and knowledge regarding these. Five people with experiences of going through gender assessments have been individually interviewed. The data has been analysed using thematic analysis. Queer theory, power with focus on Foucault’s analysis and the concept of working alliance have been used to analyse the data. The main results of the study concern how relationships to professionals may impact the experience of the assessment, the dependency in relation to the team, and feelings of pressure to act in a gender binary way to get a diagnosis and gain access to care.sv
