The purpose of this thesis is to examine how urban development affects the free culture and cultural institutions in Gothenburg. Through our qualitative study, we choose a discourse analytic method where we analyse how local media outlets shape our ideas and outlook towards entrepreneurial urbanist strategies in urban development. With a theoretical structure based on social constructionism and discourse theory, this thesis analyses what social consequences entrepreneurial urbanization strategy could have on the free culture and cultural organizations at Karlavagnsplatsen in Gothenburg. And in what ways Göteborgs-Posten, Göteborgs Stad and Serneke participate and construct discourses and ideas about urban development regarding Karlavagnsplatsen. Our thesis aims to point out the discursive practices and their part in the preservation and structure of our social world, not to solve it.sv
