dc.description.abstract | Urbanization as a trend is still ongoing and facing cities with challenging circumstances of
how to develop in line with a sustainable development. The discussion of how to develop
urban areas in line with a sustainable development are broad and include a variety of activities
and areas. For example, establishing more green and soft-grounded areas to manage heavy
rains or electrifying public transport to promote a sustainable transportation norm. This essay
focuses on the activity of urban agriculture and aims to study urban agriculture as an
integrated part of a sustainable urban development.
By analyzing policy document on sustainable city development, the goal of the essay is to
examine what role and function is given to urban agriculture. The analysis of the relevant
content, from the documents, is showing that urban agriculture as a sustainable activity
receives a sparingly attention. Although previous research, the theory of the thesis and the
conducted interview could show positive examples and effects of/from urban agriculture, it
was not particularly mentioned in the documents on city development in line with
sustainability. | sv |
