The voter turnout in the elections to the European Parliament have historically been low among the citizens in the European Union, including Sweden. Previous research shows that voting participation can be influenced by different factors. This thesis will focus on the individual factors, primary different concepts of political motivation. This thesis aims to gather a deeper understanding how different concepts of political motivation affects the voting participation, with focus on the Swedish voting participation in the European Parliament Election 2019. Four hypotheses are being tested using quantitative method and two kinds of regression analyses. The result shows that political motivation has a positive impact on voting participation, and the hypotheses can therefore be partly accepted.sv
