dc.description.abstract | This thesis examines and describes methods for splicing vertical wood siding when renovating
and repairing it. This is a common procedure, but it is not described to a great extent in Swedish
literature. The work process and tool choices are in focus. An initial literature study was done,
to see how the work is described in the building preservation literature. Active craftsmen with
building preservation skills have been interviewed to get an idea of how the work is done, what
an optimal joint look like, what tools are recommended and other relevant information
concerning this kind of work. Their answers have then been compared with information taken
from the literature. The craftsmen's methods have since been tested and compared in a practical
experiment. The result of the essay was a description of a possible method for splicing vertical
wood siding. | sv |
