dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study was to investigate the family therapist's view of collaboration with
social workers on joint cases. The study highlighted the opportunities and difficulties that
existed in the collaboration work, implementations that should be implemented to promote
collaboration, as well as the professionals' perception of their collaboration through a clients
perspective. To compose this study, a qualitative research method in the form of in-depth
interviews was used. A total of six interviews were completed with the family therapists. Our
study showed that the family therapists valued good communication, relationship and
commitment throughout the case as essential for good collaboration. The results showed that
collaboration was perceived as personal and that collaboration with family therapists was
deprioritized when the social workers had a high workload. This study also showed that a
defining of roles was essential in collaboration and that different perspectives on the case can
be an asset, as well as something difficult. The effects of collaboration was not always as the
family therapist wished and this study showed that some professionals did not take the
necessary steps to achieve a good collaboration. Important implementations to promote
collaboration in practice were common platforms and clear directives from management. The
findings that arose regarding the professionals client perspective on collaboration showed that
a good collaboration might result in a higher quality for the client's services, and that a
comprehensibility and good communication seemed to be important factors for the client to
feel secure. When there was a lack of clarity in the form of the professionals differentiating
points of view, uncertainty was a factor that the professionals considered might affect the
client. An important aspect that was highlighted was that there should be a clear limit to what
is communicated about the client between the professionals. The results also showed that the
family therapists emphasized that an exchange of information in joint cases is essential for
the client in order to have as good experience as possible. | sv |
