GEMENSAM SYN PÅ JÄMSTÄLLD IDROTT? - En kvalitativ fallstudie om EU:s och Sveriges jämställdhetsmål i relation till idrotten
Abstract
Sport is a large and significant sector in society, both in Sweden and at EU level. This study is an in-depth analysis of how sport organized within the Swedish Sports Confederation (Riksidrottsförbundet; RF) develops its gender equality goals in accordance with the EU's gender equality goals. The thesis aims to answer how gender equality goals at the EU level comply with how the RF-organized sport develops gender equality, through the lens of sportification. The sportification process is analyzed by using the concept of equalization, which is one of several criteria within the sportification framework. Studying how gender
equality on international level in accordance with national level is applied and followed up on helps us understand if and how they have been implemented and complied with. The material studied in this thesis has shown that the focus has varied depending on if we deal with European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) or RF. The results indicate that the goals vary due to the
differences between the two organizations, even though they both have explicitly formulated goals that deal with sports. The thesis’ conclusion is that RF is a sportified organization that sets goals primarily based on sports logic, while EIGE is an organization primarily focused on gender equality.
