This study explores how different kinds of matter interact and intra-act with each other and with the human dimension in Jersild’s Efter floden. This according to the notion that these intra-actions produce configurations of meanings and discourses that we can interpret as stories. Based on material ecocriticism, as well as the ecological idea that Timothy Morton puts forward, this study draws attention to the interconnectedness between human and non-human entities. This approach does not take for granted that the narrative is psychological but spatially structured, which provides the opportunity to illuminate the close connection between human and non-human matter.en_US
