dc.description.abstract | Among the southern partners of the European Union, Morocco is one of the countries with the
most developed relations with the EU. France and Spain were two of the countries that
colonized Morocco. Today, the mentioned states are part of the European Union and counted
as normative powers rather than military ones. According to Manner, the EU represents an
actual example of a political entity that changes perceptions of what is normal in international
relations. The thesis, therefore, aims to study the EU’s strategy to examine if postcolonial
ideas exist about Morocco. As will be shown, the analytical management of the EU’s external
relations has not been addressed as explicitly and systematically as desired by the
Commission. Postcolonialism figures as the theoretical framework and will present the debate
about the contemporary societal problems created by European imperialism. The theory is
intended to focus on how reality is constructed by and through language. And that there is a
powerful aspect in formulating knowledge. The results of the study show, among other things,
that the material, to a large extent, contains generalising constructions in forms of superiority
and subordination in the relation between the Commission and Morocco. | en_US |
