In this thesis the plausibility of applying methods and techniques for the removal of pressure-sensitive tapes (PSTs) in the delamination of pressure-sensitive adhesive laminations (PSA-laminations) is examined. The thesis also addresses if delamination is necessary and can be justified in regards to conservation theory, abiding to the concepts and notions of balance between material retention and material loss, reversibility, authenticity, and minimal intervention. A literature review and selection of PST-removal methods and techniques on a PSA-laminated research object is evaluated within a case study and set parameters that will be listed in the experimental design. The study found that the application of PST-removal in the delamination of PSA-lamination is unsatisfactory, but that the yielded results did differ depending on the chosen technique and method. The study establishes that overall heat removal may be an appropriate candidate in the removal of PSA-lamination, but that further research has to be conducted, in particular for the removal of adhesive residue.en_US
